What difference does the form button make in your lead generation efforts? It could mean the difference between conversion and a bounce from your landing page.
When you’re executing a lead generation campaign sometimes the smallest details have the biggest impact. Take the time to make sure you are maximizing every aspect of your campaign including your form button.
Here’s how you can maximize your conversions by building the perfect landing page form button in 3 easy steps.
1) Change the text on your button. Do not under any circumstances use the word “Submit” on your form button. Submit is not sexy or exciting and most importantly it gives no benefit to your user.
Use the text on your button to reinforce the benefit of your offer. You can remind the user what they’re getting. Try something like “Download Your Free Ebook” or “Get The List of Best Restaurants.” Try not to get too long, but don’t go too short either. It’s ok to have 5 or even 6 words on the button as long as it’s clear and quickly and easily readable.
Your button is prime marketing real estate. Take advantage of it. It is (or it should be) a very visible part of your landing page. Always maximize anything that can help you get that conversion.
2) Make sure your button contrasts with the form background. Contrast is important. That’s what makes it visible. don’t get all artsy and use a button that blends into the background. If your user has to hunt for the button, even for a second, you will lose conversions.
If you’re not great with colors google contrasting color wheel. You’ll see which colors are opposites on the color wheel. These are high contrast colors. However you don’t want a bright blue form with a bright orange button. You also have to use a bit of common sense. You can take those contrasting colors and use lighter and darker versions of both. Generally, you want a light form background with a darker button.
3) Test. Test. Test. You should be testing everything on your form and landing page. Your button also deserves some testing love. You can test the text on the button, the color of the button, even the style of the button. You can test a 3d button with rounded corners or a flat square button.
Take a look around the internet at some of the bigger sites and see what kind of buttons they’re using. or just google “web buttons” and click images. You’ll get a about a billion options to peruse. The button that works best for you is the one you should stick with.
But if you’re not sure where to start copy what they do on big ecommerce sites like amazon or any site that makes its money from people completing a conversion action. If you make a wrong button decision and you are doing your testing, you’ll find a better solution.
Perfecting your button will definitely increase the number of leads you are able to generate. In lead generation it’s the small details that can make the biggest difference. So focus on making a difference and you’ll create a lead generation machine.
